Portrait of a labourer and DIY golden ratio calipers

My impression of a gaunt man of labour.

Practice improving my colour choices and feel for layering opaque and transparent water media. Once the paint layers gets thick, it becomes more difficult to work for sure. 

I saw plans for a pair of calipers used to express the golden ratio on the facebook page of a Ukrainian Atelier. I can only guess that its an Atelier because the information is all in cyrillic.
I learnt how to procure, cut and rivet aluminium for this one.
Its not too pretty but its serviceable for sure :)  I want to use this to study some compositions using traditional media.
